It's March, and every year around this time, President Obama fills out his NCAA college basketball tournament bracket with some help from ESPN.
The event is a fun one to watch because if offers a chance to see the president drop his guard and fully engage in something other than politics. And he clearly enjoys it. This year, we're getting an early dose of sports talk from the commander-in-chief.
Obama sat down with Grantland's Bill Simmons for an special taping of the B.S. Report -- and I learned some very interesting things about POTUS:
Obama loves HBO's The Wire. And his favorite character: "It's got to be Omar, right? I mean, that guy is unbelievable, right?"
He also takes some credit for Clippers star Blake Griffin taking more 12 - 15 foot jumpers. How can that be? Well, Obama leaned on new Clippers point guard Chris Paul to make it happen, telling him that Griffin would be unstoppable a la Karl Malone if he worked on his mid-range game.
"I will point out that I think he's been taking more outside jumpers," Obama told Simmons. "That's good. He's got to work on that shot, and he's going to be — he could be the best power forward ever if he develops it."
Obama insists he does not cheat at golf -- a not-so-thinly veiled shot at former President Bill Clinton, a notorious golf cheat.
One more tidbit: Obama claims he was clued-in to the phenomenon that is Jeremy Lin way before it was cool because Education Secretary Arne Duncan -- a former Harvard player himself -- has been hyping Lin since the Knicks star's college days.
And now, back to regularly scheduled programming.
