  • Wine exports surge ... from Florida and New Jersey?

The last few years have been ripe for U.S. vintners. Wine exports have surged 64% since 2007.

While most exports still come from California, other states are getting in on the game. New York has long been known for its growing wine industry, but Florida and New Jersey are nursing start-up vineyards as well.

Electric car maker Tesla fired back at the New York Times Wednesday, claiming the paper falsified a recent story about the company's "Model S" vehicle running out of juice during a long range test drive and leaving the writer stranded in the cold Connecticut countryside.

In a blog post on the company's website, Tesla (TSLA) founder Elon Musk accused Times writer John Broder of unplugging the car before it received a MORE

  • The facts about oil and gas under Obama

During Tuesday night's debate, Mitt Romney accused President Obama of presiding over a decline in oil and gas production from federal land and waters.

    Was he right?

The chart above shows that oil production on federal property did in fact decline by 13% last year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. But that was mostly the result of the moratorium imposed after the BP spill in 2010.

    Overall, oil production in MORE

  • Matt Damon fracking film backed by big OPEC member

Matt Damon's new film on fracking, "Promised Land", is generating some buzz -- though probably not the kind studio execs were hoping for.

Last week, the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation pointed out that in the trailer for film, one of the financial backers listed is Image Nation Abu Dhabi.

Image Nation Abu Dhabi is, in turn, owned by Abu Dhabi Media - a state media company for the United Arab Emirates. MORE
